At IBIS we believe strongly that the quality of the data is only as good as the research methodology applied to creating the database and keeping it up to date. The IBIS database is a fully researched marketing file, researched and updated by a team of 15 experts who work full-time on the database. Using traditional research tools such as university prospectuses and renowned reference works such as The World of Learning combined with the Internet, the team are able to identify new institutes, libraries and contacts on an ongoing basis.
In addition to our basic research, IBIS undertakes a strategic programme of email questionnaires every year to ensure that we make contact with every record on the database on an annual basis. Each person is reminded they are on the database, that they can view/amend their personal record or they can opt-out at any time. We find that the number of academics who opt-out every year is negligible, with most seeing it as a valuable service in keeping them informed of what is being published in their areas and many academics actively keep us informed when they change institute so they will continue to hear from us and our publishing customers.
The IBIS Worldwide Academic and Library File is part of Metropolis Business Publishing, who are members of the DMA. Our research processes and management of academic and library data are compliant with the new GDPR regulations (2018). To view our privacy policy, click here.
It is our aim to ensure all academics on file receive only marketing communications that are relevant to their teaching and research and only rent data to educational and academic publishers (and occasionally companies who have products or services that could be of use to academics’ teaching activities.)
